Congresswoman Deb Haaland

Updated: Mar 8, 2019

Congresswoman Deb Haaland is one of two Native American women ever elected to Congress. She is the daughter of veterans and raised her daughter as a single mother. Before being elected to Congress, she ran for Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico and was the Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.

Through her office, she has brought to light Indigenous issues that are not always talked about in the media like the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and access to clean water.
